How to Download Online Videos on Mac

Wondershare UniConverter 18 for Mac lets you download supported online videos and save them for offline viewing. A Quick Guide on Using UniConverter Mac to Download Videos

Step 1. Open the Video Downloader on Mac

Launch Wondershare UniConverter 18 on your Mac and select Downloader from the Home screen. You can also open it from the left sidebar.

Step 2. Copy the Online Video URL

Open a supported video website in your browser and find the video you want to download. Copy the video URL from the address bar or the available sharing options.

Step 3. Paste the URL and Choose Download Options

Return to Downloader and paste the copied URL into the input field. You can also enter multiple URLs, one per line, for batch downloading. Keep Video selected and click Download to start the task.

Besides videos, UniConverter lets you download available Audio and Thumbnail files from supported URLs. Open the download type menu and choose the option you need.

Note: To convert downloaded media into another format, enable Convert after download at the bottom of the Downloader interface and configure the available conversion settings.

Step 4. Check Download Progress and Find the Saved Video

Once the download begins, check its progress in the Downloading tab. UniConverter displays the download percentage, speed, and estimated remaining time. Click Pause to temporarily stop a task, or use Pause All to pause multiple downloads.

When the download is complete, open the Finished tab to access the downloaded files. You can use the Save to menu at the bottom of the Downloader window to choose the destination folder on your Mac.

Download YouTube Videos from Your Account

UniConverter 18 for Mac supports downloading eligible YouTube videos that your account has permission to access, including available videos from your Watch Later and Liked Videos lists.

In Downloader, click the drop-down arrow next to Download Video and locate Download from My YouTube Account. Click Sign In if you have not connected your account. Then choose Download Liked videos or Download Watch Later to access the corresponding list and select supported videos for downloading.

Note: Private or account-restricted videos require the signed-in account to have permission to access the content.

Download Auto-Generated and Multilingual YouTube Subtitles

UniConverter 18 for Mac supports selecting available YouTube subtitles in different languages, including supported auto-generated subtitle tracks. Available options depend on the source video.

Add a supported YouTube video URL to Downloader. Open the download options menu next to Video and select Subtitles. Choose an available language, such as English, German, Spanish, or French, then click Download to start the task.

Subtitle languages and available tracks vary by video. After downloading, check the saved content in the Finished tab.

Split YouTube Downloads by Chapters

UniConverter 18 for Mac can split supported YouTube videos into separate chapter files when recognizable chapter information is available. This helps organize long tutorials, interviews, and other chapter-based videos.

Copy the URL of a YouTube video containing chapters and paste it into Downloader. Open the download options menu, select Chapters, and choose Split (if any) to enable chapter splitting.

Click Download to start the task. When downloading is complete, open the Finished tab to view the chapter-based results and access the saved files.

Note: Chapter splitting requires the source video to contain recognizable chapter information.

Download M3U8 Streams on Mac

UniConverter 18 for Mac also supports downloading compatible M3U8 streams and saving them as playable local video files. This feature is useful for supported HLS video content that you want to watch offline.

Open Downloader and keep Video selected. Paste an accessible M3U8 URL into the input field, then click Download to begin.

Check the task in the Downloading tab. UniConverter may display Analyzing while processing the stream information before downloading. You can click Pause to temporarily stop the task.

Once downloading is complete, go to the Finished tab to find the saved video. In this example, UniConverter saves the M3U8 stream as an MP4 file. Click the folder icon to open its saved location on your Mac.

Note: M3U8 downloading requires a compatible, accessible stream. The feature does not bypass DRM or other access restrictions.
