Convert Videos to Any Format

Wondershare UniConverter supports over 1,000 formats, making it easy to convert videos for different media players, devices, and platforms. UniConverter 18 also introduces Watch Folder automation, audio preservation options, CPU usage control, and improved GPU acceleration and HDR conversion performance. Follow the steps below to convert videos and explore these features.

Step 1 Launch UniConverter Video Converter.

Launch Wondershare UniConverter 18 and select Converter on the Home screen.

Step 2 Add the videos.

In the Converter interface, click Add Files or Add Folder to import the videos you want to convert. You can also drag and drop files into the workspace.

After importing your videos, the files appear in the Converting tab. You can review the source file information and configure the output settings before starting conversion.

Step 3 Choose an output format and audio settings.

Click the Convert to drop-down menu to select your preferred output format. UniConverter supports various formats, including MP4, MOV, MKV, and AVI. You can also choose available resolution presets, such as HD 1080P, 4K Video, or 8K Video, depending on your output requirements.

To customize additional output parameters, click the Settings icon next to the selected output format and adjust the available video and audio options as needed.

Preserve Original Audio with Audio Passthrough

UniConverter 18 provides options to preserve audio tracks during video conversion. In the Converter interface, open the Audio Track menu and select Keep all audio track(s) to retain the available audio tracks. The menu also includes the Advanced Audio Codec option. Whether the original audio can be preserved without re-encoding depends on the selected output format and codec compatibility.

Step 4 Adjust conversion performance settings.

Control CPU Usage During Conversion

UniConverter 18 lets you control CPU usage during conversion. Click the menu icon in the upper-right corner and select Preferences.

In the Convert tab, find Use full CPU for conversion. Enable this option to allow UniConverter to make fuller use of CPU resources during conversion, or disable it when you prefer not to prioritize maximum CPU utilization. Click OK to save your settings.

Faster NVIDIA GPU and HDR Conversion

UniConverter 18 includes improvements to NVIDIA GPU acceleration and HDR conversion performance. To manage conversion acceleration, click High Speed Conversion in the Converter interface and enable Ultra-fast Speed or GPU Acceleration as needed. Available GPU devices and acceleration capabilities depend on your hardware, drivers, and output settings.

Step 5 Convert the videos and view the results.

After confirming the output format and conversion settings, click Convert All to start converting your videos. Once the conversion is complete, open the Finished tab to view the converted files. You can also use the folder icon to access the saved videos.

Automatically Convert New Files with Watch Folder

UniConverter 18 introduces Watch Folder, which can automatically convert new media files added to a designated folder. This helps simplify recurring conversion tasks without manually importing each new file.

Open Converter and select the Watch Folder tab. Choose the folder you want to monitor under Watching, select an output location under Save to, and choose the target format from the Convert to drop-down menu.

Once the settings are ready, click Start to activate the Watch Folder task. The status changes to Activated, indicating that UniConverter is monitoring the selected folder for new files. You can click Pause to stop monitoring temporarily.
